Currently the mobile networks are running on 4G and the next big thing in mobile networks is 5G network. It will bring drastic change in sppeds and call quality and other features compared the current running network of 4G. Companies like Qualcomm and Intel are working in 5G and are testing since months and expected to be in devices at the last of 2018 or by the starting of 2019. This week Qualcomm had announced that it would provide it's X50 modems to several mobile makers.

Qualcomm this week had announced that it is been working with almost 18 mobile manufacturers to brings devices with the x50 modems as early as possible in start of 2019. The companies included are Nokia, Xiaomi, oppo, vivo, Sony, HTC, lg,Asus, ZTE, Fujitsu and others. Then all these devices will be ready for commercial use by 2019. Qualcomm had also confirmed that it's modems will be used for live over-the-air 5G NR trails with leading mobile operators like AT&T, Verizon, China mobile, China telecom, British telecom, Sprint, orange, LG Uplus, vodafone group and others.

We can see from the list above Apple, Samsung and Huawei are not included. We already know Apple is having issues with Qualcomm and they are battling each other legally. According to an analyst it is said that Apple will not use Qualcomm chipsets and rely on Intel chipsets from 2018. And coming to Samsung devices they will be working with 5G modems with it's own Exynos processors  called exynos 5G, without using Qualcomm's x50 modems. But it continue to use snapdragon chipsets on several areas.

Qualcomm plans to demonstrate x50 modems at MWC events at Barcelona this month. This 5G modems will allow mutiple gigabit per second data rate with significant lower latency than current networks. Qualcomm continues to be a mobile industry leader with it's 5G chipset products and 5G ecosystem collaborations in support of aiming to deliver 5G NR mobile devices in 2019, the company said in a press release.
