We have already posted that Xiaomi recently given the MIUI9 update to the Redmi Note 3 and recently they have started releasing the update to it's popular budget devices Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s prime.
The update named as MIUI 9.2.2.0.MALMIEK which is around 376MB in size. Just like in the Redmi Note 3 the update in both the Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s prime is based on Android marshmallow which means it is not an Android OS update instead a rollout of it's own MIUI9 over the older MIUI8. Along with the update we can see the android security patch of April 2017 which is also outdated because the current security patch is dated as January 2018.
The MIUI9 features that come in this device are as follows:
- Retooled notification panel
- New image editor
- Optimizations with 2x faster app load times
- New Mi video app
- Updated Mi Drop app
- Exclusive themes and sticker packs
- Calendar with cards for holidays and some internal software updates.
The MIUI9 update has already rolled out to many devices in batches. In first batch the Redmi Note 4 and Mi Mix mobiles received the update. In second batch Mi Max and others received the update. Now in the third batch Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s prime mobiles started getting MIUI9 update. A total of 32 mobiles will get the update in several batches.
